Born and educated in Australia, Dr Libby Weaver (PhD) studied at the University of Newcastle where she completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) with Honours and went on to complete a PhD in Biochemistry, examining biochemical and nutritional factors affecting children with autism. Through this work Libby came to better understand and communicate the relationship between the food we eat, our thoughts and beliefs, and the way our body shape and size then expands or shrinks.
Since 1999, Dr Libby has been working with individual patients from all walks of life, from stay-at-home-mums to Hollywood stars. She set up and ran an organic café and she has been an integral person in the setup of two health retreats where she not only designed the nutritional philosophies, but also performed the role of Program Director. Dr Libby continues to work closely with the media and is regularly called upon for nutritional comments and to communicate complex messages, simply.
Dr Libby moved to New Zealand in 2007 to be with her now husband Chris, since which time they have created a Holistic Nutrition Consultancy which provides individual consultations as well as empowering, informative seminars, retreats and media work. Dr Libby is a regular columnist for multiple magazines including Next Magazine, Good Health Magazine, Taste Magazine and Fitness Life, and she is a passionate and sought after international keynote speaker. She is the author of the best-selling book Accidentally Overweight: solve your weight loss puzzle.
Dr Libby is a big believer that sleep is an important part of health and general well-being, as it affects everything from our moods and energy levels to our daily productivity and food intake. But she is conscious that very few people are aware of this. So as a result, Dr Libby has joined forces with Sleepyhead to help raise awareness of the key role that sleep and the bed play in our everyday lives.
