Mattress design is all about managing the trade-offs: balancing comfort and support, technology and sleep experience, cost and value. Pocket springs have continued to evolve over the years, and in amongst all the trade-offs we identified an opportunity for serious innovation. Driven by our sleep expertise and decades of experience in coil geometry and foam chemistry, we asked a simple question: What should the ultimate sleep support system actually do?
We started over with a first-principles approach. Instead of iterating existing systems, we went back to the drawing board and designed a revolutionary integrated support system: Smart Suspension Technology.

With both elements working seamlessly together like a giant shock absorber, the core effectively absorbs movement and energy instead of returning it to the surface of the mattress.

These materials can trap warm, moist air and restrict the airflow essential for a cool sleep.Our proprietary design flips the script. Smart Suspension Technology uses the optimum spring height for maximum stability, removing the need for restrictive foam rails or binding top paper. SST’s SmartEdge design encourages cool, dry air to enter the mattress and warm, moist air to escape, opening up the entire core for maximum airflow.
