Pillow Comparison

Woman lying on a bed with white pillows and bedding

Your pillow holds your head and supports your sleep. If you're a side sleeper, look for a pillow that fills the gap between shoulder and ear and keeps your neck and spine in a straight line. Back sleepers will need a pillow that supports the natural curve of the neck without pushing the head forward. Tummy sleepers need a low pillow to prevent the neck from twisting or arching backward. Combination sleepers who move throughout the night need a pillow that will provide consistent support in multiple positions, and may appreciate pillows with more flexible fills.

Choosing the right pillow can dramatically improve your sleep quality while reducing pain and restless nights. That's why we've designed pillows for every sleep profile: low profile for tummy sleepers, mid profile for back, side and combo sleepers, high profile for side sleepers, and contour profile for personalised support. Compare your sleep habits against our pillow range and find the perfect match for the way you sleep.

Pillow Comparison FAQs

What pillow is best for side sleepers?

Side sleepers need a mid or high profile pillow to fill the gap between the shoulder and neck. If you have broad shoulders, choose a higher profile pillow. If you have narrower shoulders, a mid profile pillow may work better.

What pillow is best for stomach (tummy) sleepers?

Stomach sleepers need a low profile pillow with soft support to keep the spine neutral and prevent neck strain. The best pillow in our range for tummy sleepers is the Natural Latex Pillow (Low Profile). Some mid profle pillows may also work depending on materials: be sure to test before buying to make sure your chosen pillow is comfortable for you. Avoid high profile pillows if you sleep primarily on your stomach: you'll be waking with neck pain more often than not.

What's the difference between mid profile and contour profile pillows?

Mid profile pillows have a uniform height and are best for back, side, and combination sleepers who change position during the night. Examples include our Evolve SmartFibre, Natural Latex (Mid), and all Hotel Collection pillows.

Contour profile pillows have two distinct sides: a lower side for back sleeping and a higher side for side sleeping. They're ideal for back and side sleepers, and may suit combination sleepers who don't mind rotating their pillow during the night. Examples include the Hotel Collection Therapeutic Memory Foam Pillow, Sleepyhead Ventilated Memory Foam (Contour), and 24/7 FusionGel® Contour.

What does the support level mean (soft, medium, firm)?

Support level refers to how much resistance the pillow provides against your head and neck. One-star support is good for tummy sleepers. Two-star support is good for most back, side and combo sleepers, and three-star support is best for side sleepers, particularly those with broad shoulders.

Can combination sleepers use a contour pillow?

While contour pillows are generally designed for back or side sleepers who remain in one position throughout the night, you might also find they're comfortable if you move around a lot. After all, you can always turn the pillow as you move! Another good option is a mid profile pillow that provides consistent support no matter which position you roll into. Look for any pillow with Mid Profile and Medium Support (**) in our range: these are all suitable for combination sleepers.
